What is a Outsider?
An outsider is a person that doesn't belong, someone who doesn't always fit in. Outsiders are in our everyday lives, many people have met or seen an outsider daily. Some people may have been outsiders when they were younger, however they are excelling as an adult.
Skills Are One of Your Best Qualities
Skills are what make you, you. Some people are good with computers, others make beautiful pieces of art. Others may use all of their time to perfect the music piece. Someone else may stay up until the wee hours of the morning to make sure they know all of the material for the exam that day. That kid that was good with computers, now works for Apple and is making millions of dollars. The artist now has his work in all of the famous art museums in the world. That band geek is the bass player for some of the most famous musical artists in the world. The person that studies all night is now trying to find a cure for cancer. Bottom line is: do not discriminate against other people that might not be like you. Everyone uses their own skills in different ways. Just because they aren't the skills that you use doesn't mean they are not important.
Real Life Application of Being an Outsider: Jobs
“In the rabidly conformist school environment, the qualities that make people different make them targets. In adulthood, however, the qualities that make people different make them compelling.”(Robbins)
This quote from Alexandra Robbins back us the inference that most people who seem quirky have qualities that make them desirable to employers. When someone goes to an interview it’s their only chance to stand out to the interviewer. Hardworking, Charismatic, Initiative, Problem Solver. These are all adjectives used to describe the most desirable qualities that people seek out for workers. Resumes are viewed for only around 15 to 20 seconds. Therefore, your chance to stand out can aid you in snagging that job.

Accept the Differences
“The education landscape would be so much more bearable if students could just understand this.” (Robins)
This quote tells how if in the classroom students would just embrace the differences of outsiders. These good people would be in a better circumstance than they would if they were being made fun of. We need to embrace these people and to accept their differences. If we were to do that our country will be in even a better position.

Counterclaim
These people we think are crazy will always be crazy and never become anything special. For example, some might get bullied and instead of brushing it off, they take it to heart and do something bad. Such as suicide or even killing other people. Another example would be the people who commit school shootings, the reasons for them doing what they did didn’t just come to them the day before, they most likely planned it out and have had crazy feelings for a long time. The crazy people get ideas to do bad things because they are different from everyone else and are viewed as outsiders. Most of these people will not become anything great and help society.
Conclusion
People are different in their own way, and every person is different. Our differences are what make us unique. The skills that one person might be good at may be completely different than another person's skills. As human beings we need to be thankful and appreciate your skills and not discriminate against others. Think to yourself: what are your skills and how are could they help you later?
